Participation Guidelines & Terms

Christmas Season 2026 • Town of Fort Erie, Ontario • LightUpFortErie.com

1. General Principles

Light Up Fort Erie is a non-commercial community initiative designed to bring holiday joy to our town. Participation as either a homeowner submitter or a map visitor is entirely voluntary and free of charge.

2. Visitor Courtesy & Safety Code

All visitors touring the Christmas lights are asked to uphold the following guidelines:

  • Remain on Public Property: Always view and photograph displays from public sidewalks or roads. Never step onto private lawns, driveways, or porches without explicit homeowner invitation.
  • Drive Safely: Keep vehicle speeds low, avoid blocking neighbour driveways, and turn off headlights if idling curbside where safe to do so.
  • Respect Curfew Hours: Homeowners set their own lighting schedules (typically turning off between 9:30 PM and 11:00 PM). Please respect residential quiet hours.
  • Safety First: Watch for pedestrians, children, and icy winter road conditions.

3. Homeowner Submissions

Homeowners participating in the community map agree to:

  • Confirm they own the property or have direct authorization from the homeowner.
  • Submit genuine photographs and accurate neighbourhood details.
  • Ensure outdoor electrical connections comply with electrical safety standards and do not pose a fire or trip hazard to public rights-of-way.

4. Organizer Discretion

The organizers reserve the right to review, edit for clarity, approve, or decline any submission to maintain safety, appropriateness, and community standards. A listing may be removed at any time upon request of the resident.

5. Disclaimer

Light Up Fort Erie and Fort Erie Home Group provide the interactive map as an informational community resource. While we strive for accuracy, display hours and dates are subject to weather conditions and homeowner discretion without prior notice.
